twitter The World has gone to Twitter, Market with it!

Who would have ever thought that a little program for microblogging would become the next big thing in the world of internet communication.  In a time when knowing everything about everyone at every second of the day is at its highest, why not create something that will allow your to update your status where ever and when ever?  I must admit, I missed the train on MySpace, jumped on facebook just because, and now I am on Twitter and seem to be an addict.

For those that do not know, twitter is a microblogging service that can be updated from anywhere, a website, a cell phone, an email client, literally anywhere.  There was once a time, believe it or not, when you friends could not stalk what you were doing every minute of every day.  There was no Twitter, no Facebook, no blogging, I wonder how those people survived?

It seems odd to me that twitter has taken off to the level that it has, on one hand I can see how it has its appeal to high school kids and college party goers, however it seems to have sky rocketed into the main stream with business CEO's and famous athletes and music artists using it every day.  A few weeks ago Skittles put out a tweet about their website and they had over 1000% more visitors that week to their website, which had me thinking, twitter is possibly one of the best marketing tools avaliable.

Twitter can be, if used correctly, one of the best marketing tools on the internet today, simply because it has a huge following and it is free.  With its many plugins and codes to place your twitter status on your website, or tweet on a blog you just found, it is not hard to realize the potential here.  With one tweet you can flood the market with a link, as long as you have the correct following to do so!

Now of course marketing on twitter is not the easiest thing to do as it will take time to play the game and get people to follow you.  The most important thing to do is create a large following on twitter, as well as a decent list of people you follow.  We need to have as many people see the tweets as possible.  The more people that see your tweets the better, as they will have the upper hand knowing what is going on.

Another important aspect of marketing with tweeter is the option to allow your blog posts to be shared via twitter, so any time anyone wants to tweet a post, they click the link and it becomes there status.  This is a great tool because, if done eddectively, your link can spread through the networks of twitter accounts all over the world.

Now I know it is true that people use twitter to check in on Ashton Kutcher, Lil Wayne, and Shaq, but it is also one of the best marketing systems that can be put into place on the internet. Why not let it work for you?
